kakkai siraginiley...

last night i was lying in my mat and going through the last pages of the book 'pour your heart into it'. it was about starbucks coffee chain, written by its CEO Howard Schultz. it started as a promising book but as i covered more and more, i felt it was sugar coated, more like an advertisment for his company than a good business story. however i liked the initial enterprising years of its growth.

as i said i was covering the last pages of the book, though it got a bit irritating by then. but i was determined to finish the book last night itself. one of my friends was working in his computer and at the same time listening to some songs. i wasnt particularly interested in listening, though some of the numbers that were played were my favourites from ilayaraja.

and then suddenly this song was played.. kakkai siraginiley.. it was writtern by Bharathi, a great tamil poet. the lyrics were so breathtakingly beautiful, the voice so melodious, the song so captivating that i closed the book and my eyes and just soaked in that eternal music.

it is in moments like this that i realize how appealing and powerful music can be even to a novice like me
